Bears fall, hosting playoffs

PITTSBURGH — Lightning struck twice against the Butler County Bears Friday night.

After rallying for a 14-14 tie late against the Pittsburgh Colts in Ohio Football League action, the Colts returned the ensuing kickoff for the deciding touchdown in a 22-14 victory. They defeated the Bears in that same fashion earlier this season at Moniteau High School.

Still, the Bears finished the regular season with a 7-3 record and a playoff berth. Butler County will host the Jackson Silverhawks at 7 p.m. Aug. 10 at Butler Memorial Park in the first round.

Admission will be free to that game.

Pittsburgh jumped out to a 14-0 lead in Friday’s game before the Bears responded. Karns City graduate Erik Fuhrer threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Seneca Valley grad Brian Perry and Jason Majocha added the PAT with less than a minute to play in the first half.

Fuhrer connected with Moniteau graduate James Shope on a screen pass that resulted in the tying touchdown with less than five minutes remaining in the contest.

Majocha again added the PAT.
