1:13 p.m. Thursday — Three people were hurt when a car driven by John W. Sanders, 89, of Butler rear-ended another car on Route 8 south of Butler. The other, driver, Sharen E. Dixon, 63, of Slippery Rock was slowing for a vehicle that was turning left in front of her when Sanders hit her car from behind.Both drivers and Dixon's passenger, Donna Sybert, 53, of Valencia, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. All three occupants were wearing seat belts.Thursday — An unknown vandal overnight smashed out a window at a building in the 200 block of Etna Street.

2:11 a.m. today — Three Butler men were arrested following a traffic stop at Route 8 and Muddy Creek Drive in Center Township that netted police suspected marijuana, pills and drug contraband.Charged with felony drug possession are Mark. E. Boyle, 23, and Steven D. Pintell, 22. Boyle also is accused of driving under the influence of a controlled substance.Meanwhile, police learned that the third man, David A. George, 27, was wanted by the U.S. Marshal's Office a on a warrant. George also faces drug charges stemming from the traffic stop.8:52 p.m. Wednesday — Fire badly damaged a single-story house on Route 488 in Muddy Creek Township. The fire marshal is investigating what caused the blaze, which is not considered suspicious.The wood-framed home with brick siding, owned by Lucille Skrak, sustained about $100,000 in damage.3:45 p.m. Tuesday — A car driven by Eric B. Saunders, 26, of Pittsburgh crashed and rolled over twice on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.Saturday — Someone broke into a home on Route 38 in Center Township and stole a 50-year-old woman's money for rent that was on a living room table. The woman, who was gone for the day, was to pay her rent later that day.

Thursday — A threatening message was found written on a toilet roll holder in the female employee's restroom at the GE plant on Barkeyville Road in Pine Township, Mercer County. The message warned of a shooting and advised that the plant be closed between noon Thursday and noon Monday.Police said they have no suspects. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-662-6162.7:08 p.m. Wednesday — About $22,000 in currency was seized from a 37-year-old Michigan man's car, following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township. The car, which had an Ohio license plate, was stopped for suspected criminal activity, according to a police report.Police did not immediately identify the driver or provide any more information about the traffic stop.
