Jeffrey A. Bixler, 51, of Butler was arrested Friday night and accused of terroristic threats and simple assault after he allegedly walked into a neighbor's apartment holding a meat cleaver.Bixler is accused of walking into the open South Bluff Street apartment of Tammy L. McLaughlin, 54, who was visiting with Stanley H. Regis, 69, a neighbor just past 10 p.m.Regis fled out the back door and called police. He later told police he and Bixler have had disagreements in the past.Bixler threw three potted plants outside the apartment, but McLaughlin told police Bixler did not threaten her.Police found Bixler in the apartment, and he appeared to be drunk. Bixler later admitted to police he had been drinking and was trying to scare Regis, who he said previously threatened to have him committed to a hospital.He apologized for his actions.Bixler was taken to Butler County Prison to await arraignment.
