1 a.m. today — Scott L. Bailey Jr., 19, of Summit Township was arrested for suspicion of drunken driving after an apparent case of mistaken identity outside a convenience store on West Jefferson Street.A police officer saw Bailey drive into the A-Plus parking lot, get out of his car and immediately confront another man. He yelled at the man until he realized he had mistaken him for someone else, according to a police report. The suspect apologized and shook hands with the man.The officer, meanwhile, approached Bailey and while talking to him suspected he had been drinking. He failed field sobriety tests and was given a breath test. The tests showed a blood-alcohol level of 0.056 percent, the police report said. A level of 0.02 percent is considered intoxicated for an adult under 21.Police said Bailey is charged with driving under the influence, DUI by a minor, driving with a suspended license and disorderly conduct.3:20 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Richard R. Wolfe, 77, of Butler accidentally backed into traffic on West New Castle Street and was hit by an oncoming sport utility vehicle.The car was at a repair shop being worked on when Wolfe started it up. The car drifted backward and onto the road. The SUV driven by David A. Albaugh, 51, of Beaver Falls, Beaver County, was unable to avoid hitting the car.

Thursday — Police reported Drake Kennedy, 20, of Butler was allegedly intoxicated last weekend when he crashed his sport utility vehicle on Route 8 south.Kennedy, 20, and his passenger, Tyler Miller, 20, of Butler both were badly injured in the wreck about 6 a.m. Sunday near Ann Arbor Lane.Medical helicopters flew both men for treatment.Police said Kennedy, in addition to a charge of driving under the influence, faces several unspecified traffic tickets.10:48 p.m. Wednesday — An unidentified vehicle struck the side of a car driven by Sherri L. Hemphill, 46, of Butler that was stopped on Route 8 south to make a left turn into the Greater Butler Mart, and did not stop after the wreck. Anyone with information about the hit-and-run crash is asked to call police at 724-285-9600.2:09 p.m. Saturday — A Fenelton woman was cited with harassment in a case of suspected road rage in the McDonald's restaurant drive-through at the Greater Butler Mart.The suspect, 47-year-old Kati Call, reacted to being cut off by a 46-year-old woman, according to a police report.Call allegedly got out of her car, walked up to the other vehicle and punched the woman in the face. No injuries were reported.

Wednesday — Eric J. Elder, 26, of Slippery Rock faces a pair of criminal charges stemming from a dispute during a child custody exchange. Elder is charged with simple assault and reckless endangerment.

Wednesday — Police filed drugged driving and other charges against Keith A. Nebel, 40, of Summit Township stemming from a traffic stop about 1:50 p.m. May 15 in Clearfield Township.Nebel was pulled over after he was clocked traveling 80 mph in a 55 mph speed limit zone on Route 422. A search of his car turned up a crack cocaine and a crack pipe.Nebel admitted he had smoked crack earlier that day, according to court documents.Following an examination by a certified drug recognition expert, Nebel was taken for a blood test. Recent toxicology results showed he had cocaine in his system, documents said.He is charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, speeding and careless driving.Wednesday — An unknown driver is accused of causing a rear-end collision during a case of apparent road rage in Washington Township.The victim, 40-year-old James Goehring of Emlenton, told police that the crash happened after he tried to pass a gold-colored Pontiac Grand Am in a passing zone on Route 38. The driver of the Pontiac, however, traveled into Goehring's lane to block the pass.The suspect blocked a second attempted pass. When Goehring tried a third time, the other driver abruptly applied his brakes and caused the rear-end crash on Route 38 at Parker Road.Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Monday — Power tools and equipment valued at $1,790 were stolen in a burglary at a home on Turk Road in Brady Township. Among the stolen property was a Craftsman, 35-pound air compressor, Dewalt hammer drill and Milwaukee super sawzall. The break-in occurred between June 7 and Monday.Sunday — A license plate was stolen off a motorcycle at Hughes Auto Body on Hooker Road in Concord Township. The theft happened between May 28 and Sunday.

2:30 p.m. Wednesday — Jeffrey A. Hindman, 47, of Harrisville lost control of his truck when a tire blew out on Route 422 in Kittanning Township. The truck slammed into a guardrail. Hindman was not hurt.
