Butler Police1:22 a.m. Saturday — Claude T. Taylor III, 18, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his car struck another car parked on Miller Avenue. Taylor drove away and a short time later hit the side mirror of a car parked on Liberty Street.Police stopped Taylor on Liberty Street near West Wayne Street.9:01 a.m. June 2 — Stephanie Steiger, 27, of Butler and Warren J. Green, 28, of Herman were arrested following an altercation on North Washington Street. Police were called there after Steiger was seen allegedly punching Green in front of the fire station.Officers also learned that Steiger has a protection from abuse order that bans Green from having any contact with her, according to a police report.Police searched Green and turned up a pipe containing suspected marijuana residue.Steiger, who was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, is free on $2,000 bail. Green was placed in the Butler County Prison for the suspected PFA violation. He also was arraigned on charges of possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.Police also cited Trevor G. Walker, 23, of Butler, who was with Steiger and Green, after they searched him and found a syringe in his pocket. He is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.
Butler Twp. Police8:44 p.m. Monday — Anna Genzoli, 41, of Prescott, Ariz., was arrested after she was caught allegedly shoplifting $376 worth of merchandise from the Walmart in Butler Commons. She was arraigned on charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property and placed in the Butler County Prison on $2,000 bail.
State Police, ButlerMonday — Police charged Mark Alan Byers, 33, of Chicora with the May 19 theft of a diamond ring from a woman’s home on Buena Vista Road in Fairview Township. The suspect later sold the ring, valued at $300, at a gold store in Butler.Byers is charged with theft and receiving stolen property.5 a.m. Sunday — An identity thief tapped into a 50-year-old Center Township woman’s checking account and stole $300 in unauthorized electronic transfers to various locations in Canada.May 24 — Someone took a wallet that a woman inadvertently left her in her car May 22 on Taylor Road in Parker Township. Two days later, the woman went to her mailbox and found the wallet, which was missing the money that was in it.12:50 p.m. May 24 — A man and woman from Florida were hurt in a five-vehicle chain-reaction crash on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township.The wreck happened when a car driven by Cecilia M. Braho, 64, of Rotonda West, Fla., rear-ended a sport utility vehicle driven by Justin E. Fuller, 30, of Meadville, Crawford County, which was stopped due to a traffic jam.The collision pushed the SUV into the back of a pickup truck driven by Michael B. Chilson, 29, of McDonald, Washington County, forcing the pickup into the back of a car driven by Laura N. Warnock, 27, of Pittsburgh.Moments later, a car driven by Maria J. Shah, 25, of Warren, Ohio, rear-ended Braho’s vehicle. Braho and her passenger, Joseph Minotto, 68, of Rotonda West, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with unknown injuries. All the occupants in the vehicles were wearing seat belts.Braho and Shah were both cited for driving too fast for conditions.
State Police, Kittanning5:30 p.m. Sunday — Nathan Bielski, 38, of East Brady, Clarion County, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after his vehicle crashed into a grass embankment on Route 268 in East Franklin Township. Bielski suffered minor injuries.Monday — Police reported they have a suspect in the theft of $6,250 taken from an 81-year-old woman’s home on Ridge Road in South Bend Township. The money was taken between May 1 and Monday. Police said the investigation continues and they did not identify the suspect.
State Police, Mercer6:39 p.m. Friday — One person was hurt when a sport utility vehicle driven by Andrew J. McCracken, 17, of Grove City and a car driven by Robert B. Castagnero, 41, of Fairview, Erie County, collided at South Center Street Extension and Blacktown Road in Pine Township.Castagnero, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. McCracken was cited for a stop sign violation.
