Mystery Road Rally expands this year

Jeepers get to take on Butler County roads

Getting Jeepers to Butler County for the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival is one thing, but giving them opportunities to explore the area is another.

That’s why the festival committee came up with the Mystery Road Rally in 2012 and is expanding it for this year.

“Part of the festival’s goal is to bring Jeep owners to Butler County so they cannot only celebrate their love of Jeeps, but also see all the great things they can do while they are here,” said Sara DiBello, marketing coordinator at the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau, the organizer of the event.

“The Mystery Road Rally gets them on our scenic roads so they can be introduced to various businesses and interesting sites along the way,” DiBello said.

Participating Jeeps will be given one of eight routes that will take them to a different area of the county.

As the Jeep occupants enjoy the drive, they must also answer various questions along the route. They are scored by the number of correct answers they get as well as how close to the predetermined time they complete the event.

Prizes will be awarded to the top Jeeps on each route.

“We had great feedback about this activity last year and we wanted to accommodate more Jeeps,” said DiBello. “Now Jeepers can participate in it every day during a set period of time.”

When registration ended on May 19, 388 Jeeps were registered to participate in this event and more will be able to sign up at on-site registration.

“If you see a bunch of Jeeps out and about during the festival weekend, make sure you give them a friendly Jeep wave,” DiBello said.
