3:30 a.m. Thursday — Rose M. Comly, 45, of Butler allegedly took a car from a Center Avenue home without the owner's permission. When Comly did not immediately return the car, owner Nikki Mathews called police about 11:20 a.m. Friday.The suspect is the mother of Mathews' fiance, according to a police report.Comly later Friday contacted Mathews and informed her the car was in the Friedman's supermarket parking lot on West Brady Street. The owner called police, who found the car where Comly had left it.Police said they obtained an arrest warrant for Comly, who is charged with theft.3:15 p.m. May 11 — Two people were hurt in a three-vehicle crash at West Wayne and South Washington streets. The crash happened when a car driven by Albert W. Schrump Jr., 48, of Butler rear-ended a car driven by Kaylaa S. Chupka, 25, of Butler that was stopped at a stop sign. Schrump's vehicle also hit another car that was parked on West Wayne Street. Schrump and a passenger in Chupka's car, Sarah Archer, 24, of Center Township, were taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries; both were wearing seat belts.
8:09 p.m. Thursday — Vehicles driven by Alyssa Palmeri, 19, and Renee Hindley, 53, both of Butler, collided at Route 68 and Home Avenue. Police said Palmeri was cited for a stop sign violation.
Monday — Police reported they are investigating a pair of weekend break-ins at two Saxonburg businesses. Burglarized were Novotny's Pizza on State Street and Zacherl's Tavern on Butler Street.Police did not immediately say if they believe the crimes were related. There are no suspects in either break-in.Novotny's was entered between 10:30 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Saturday. Zacherl's was broken into between 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. Monday. Police did not disclose what was taken in the crimes. Both businesses also sustained unspecified damage. Police said they have no suspects.Monday — Police are asking the public for help in finding a suspected shoplifter wanted on a felony arrest warrant. The suspect, 27-year-old Travis Hilliard, is known to live and travel throughout the city of Butler, according to a police report.Hilliard is wanted in connection with a shoplifting case May 1 in Center Township. He is charged with three counts of felony retail theft. Police described the suspect as 5 feet, 9 inches tall and 200 pounds. He has brown hair and brown eyes.Anyone with information about Hilliard's whereabouts is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.6:25 p.m. Sunday — Stephen M. McGowen, 45, of Seven Fields was hurt when the car she was driving crashed into a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said McGowen, who was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, was cited for a lane violation.3:37 p.m. Sunday — Michael P. Shipley, 25, of Harmony was injured when a sport utility vehicle rear ended the motorcycle he was driving on Route 19 in Lancaster Township.Shipley, who was not wearing a helmet, had slowed down to make a right turn into a driveway when he was hit. He was taken to UPMC Passavant Cranberry with minor injuries. Police said Sharon A. Baker, 51, of Cranberry Township, who was driving the SUV, was cited for following too closely to another vehicle.12:45 p.m. Sunday — Elaine C. Dittman, 61, of Karns City was hurt when she lost control of her car after suffering an unknown medical emergency and struck a utility pole and ditch along Fairmont Road just north of North Main Street in Fairview Township. Dittman, who was wearing a seat belt, was flown by medical helicopter to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh with moderate injuries.Sunday — An unknown thief stole a 12-foot aluminum, flat-bottom boat and a stainless steel fire ring at a home on Calairi Lane in Donegal Township The stolen property, taken between April 1 and Sunday, is valued at $250.Sunday — Three orange extension cords worth $110 were stolen from a storage shed at a home in the 400 block of Main Street in Prospect. The theft happened between May 17 and Sunday.10:56 p.m. Saturday — Jarrett R. Lavan, 22, of Chicora was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs at Routes 8 and 422 in Butler Township.1:37 a.m. Saturday — Ryan C. Krause, 21, of Valencia was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after police found his vehicle parked with its hazard lights on at the North Park Lounge on Route 19 in Cranberry Township.Saturday — An unknown thief stole a blue Toshiba laptop computer from the back porch of a home on Broadway Avenue in East Butler. The theft happened between 1:30 and 5:30 a.m.7:18 p.m. Friday — A car driven by a 17-year-old Fenelton boy crashed into an embankment and several trees along Chicora Fenelton Road near Airport Lane in Donegal Township. The boy, who police did not identify, was cited for careless driving.11:20 a.m. Friday — A sport utility vehicle driven by Margaret H. Brunton, 56, of Erie crashed and rolled onto its roof on Interstate 79 in Lancaster Township. Police said Brunton suffered a minor injury and was cited for careless driving.3:27 a.m. Friday — Sara al-Anazi, 23, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Route 8 and Muddy Creek Drive in Center Township.Friday — A 14-year-old West Sunbury boy allegedly stole an Apple iPhone from a school van. The van driver, a 77-year-old Karns City man, owns the phone, valued at $100. The boy, who police did not identify, is charged in the juvenile court with theft from a vehicle.Thursday — Jeremy J. Rivera, 22, of Butler was arrested on charges he burglarized a garage at a home in the 700 block of Holyoke Road in Center Township between Aug. 1, 2012 and March 28. Rivera allegedly made off with tools and oil in the break-in.Rivera who was arraigned on charges of burglary, trespass and theft, was released on his own recognizance.2:45 p.m. Wednesday — An 11-year-old Chicora Elementary School student from Petrolia allegedly slapped a teacher during class. The youth, who police did not identify, is charged in juvenile court with simple assault.9:30 a.m. Wednesday — Someone broke into a home on Baumgart Lane in Oakland Township and stole a Sentry safe and several bottles of liquor. The burglary happened between 2 p.m. May 1 and 9:30 a.m. Wednesday. Anyone with information is asked to call police 724-284-8100.7 a.m. Wednesday — An unknown thief stole about $150 worth of scrap steel from a property along Setrick Road in Parker.May 20 — A white, 1999 Yamaha golf cart valued at $2,332 was stolen from a home on Creek Road in Jefferson Township. The cart was taken between 12:01 and 4:30 a.m.5:28 p.m. May 19 — Francis Mellish, 61, of East Butler was arrested for suspicion of DUI at Grant Avenue and East Butler Road in East Butler.
12:17 a.m. Monday — Zachary D. Reott, 20, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence on Route 308 in Clintonville.6:40 p.m. Sunday — Terrence L. McGuirk, 54, of Parker was hurt when his motorcycle hit a sport utility vehicle that pulled in front of him at Airport and West Home roads in Richland Township, Venango Township.McGuirk, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to UPMC Northwest hospital in Seneca with unknown injuries. Police said Gregory D. King, 38, of Roanoke, Va., was cited for making an improper left turn.
7:05 p.m. Sunday — Kelly A. Crissman, 49, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence after he lost control of his pickup truck and hit a gas meter and tree in the yard of a home at Pony Farm and Ferraro roads in North Buffalo Township.6:08 p.m. Sunday — Helen I. Dongilli, 51, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of DUI after she struck another vehicle at the Franklin Village Mall parking lot in East Franklin Township.
7:59 a.m. Monday — A car driven by Jesus A. Hernandez, 31, of Clifton, N.J., struck a deer on Interstate 80 in Wolf Creek Township.3:40 p.m. Sunday — Mark Brinker, 55, of Grove City was hurt when the motorcycle he was driving struck a deer on North Liberty Road just south of Carmona Road in Liberty Township, Mercer County.Brinker, who was wearing a helmet, was taken to Grove City Medical Center with moderate injuries. Police said the deer was killed in the accident.9 p.m. Thursday — A minivan driven by Kelly M. Roywer, 30, of Erie struck a deer on Interstate 79 in Springfield Township.Thursday — Joel Bradley Walker, 26, of Grove City was arrested on charges stemming from the theft of scrap metal items from Hemlock Road in Wolf Creek Township between May 1 and 10.Walker, in an unrelated case, also is accused of breaking into a locked shed at a Centertown Road home in Pine Township between May 1 and 10, and stealing several unspecified items.Walker was arraigned on a combined 12 counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, and charges of burglary and trespass. He is in the Mercer County jail on $50,000 bail.8:43 p.m. May 21 — A registered sex offender was arrested after troopers found him walking on I-79 in Springfield Township. Theodore R. Sherlock, 49, who is homeless, is charged with non-compliance of Megan's Law, the state law that tracks the whereabouts of sex offenders.Sherlock was arraigned on charges of failing to comply with registration of sexual offenders requirements, a felony of the second degree, and placed in the Mercer County jail on $50,000 bail.3 a.m. May 18 — An unknown burglar in a late model, four-door, light green or blue vehicle broke into a home on Pinchalong Road in Pine Township. The suspect caused about $100 in damage to the home, but took nothing.7:52 a.m. May 16 — A car driven by Lawrence C. White, 57, of Polk, Venango County, struck a deer on Route 62 just east of McQuaid Road in Sandy Lake Township.
