SRU's Cain earns All-America status
PUEBLO, Colo. — Slippery Rock University’s Julia Cain is an All-American.
Kevin Jewel is one step closer to joining her.
Cain finished eighth in the women’s pole vault on Thursday at the NCAA Division II Track and Field National Championships by clearing a personal-best 3.9 meters.
She came into the event seeded 12th and had never cleared more than 3.81 meters before the clutch performance earned her All-American status with the top-eight finish.
Jewel won his 800-meter preliminary heat on Saturday with a time of 1:52.53. The top-two finishers automatically advanced to the finals. Jewel will race for the national title Saturday at 9:05 p.m. and can be seen live on www.NCAA.com.
