A Butler man faces a hearing next month on charges he inappropriately touched a 5-year-old girl at a city home March 30.

Butler police Tuesday arrested 54-year-old Hugh R. Miller on a felony charge of corruption of minors and a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault. He is free on his own recognizance.

The girl told a Butler County Children and Youth Services caseworker during an April 16 interview that the defendant molested her while both were dressed and lying on a bed, according to court documents.

Police earlier this month interviewed Miller, who denied any wrongdoing. He told investigators that he was only “wrestling” with the girl in a playful manner.

A preliminary hearing for Miller is set June 24 before District Judge Pete Shaffer.
