FAITH U.P.Special songs and prayers to highlight Memorial Day will be included in the 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main. The choir will sing for the final time before its summer recess. The Men’s Quartet- Call-4-Faith also will sing.First BaptistFirst Baptist Christian School, a ministry of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will have an Evening of Elegance for juniors and seniors at 4 p.m. Friday.First Baptist will have an 8 a.m. prayer service Sunday followed by a breakfast. Glade Run U.P.The softball team of Glade Run United Presbyterian Church, 1091 Pittsburgh Road, Valencia, has begun its games. Games are at 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays in the field located off McFann Road.The choirs will take the summer off and other music will fill in. Old Union PresbyOld Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, begins its summer schedule this week with a worship service at 10 a.m. There will be no Sunday school until after Labor Day. Weather permitting, worship will be in the outside pavilion on the first and second Sundays of each month.Donations are being accepted for meals and lodging for the mission team’s Hurricane Sandy recovery works this summer.

The Sower’s ChapelThe Sower’s Chapel will sponsor a community Memorial Day celebration at 11 a.m. Sunday at the Hilltop Knob at 100 Iron Bridge Road and Sarver Road, Sarver.All servicemen and women will be honored for their dedication and service to our country with an honor guard from Slippery Rock University, patriotic music and refreshments. Summit PresbySunday school at 10:45 a.m. this week is the last Sunday school until fall at Summit Presbyterian Church, 181 Caldwell Drive.The church office will be closed on Memorial Day. Zion United MethodistZion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, is selling blankets in honor or in memory of a special father. Blankets will be distributed by UMCOR to people affected by natural disasters or extreme poverty. Purchases by June 9 will be mentioned in the Father’s Day printed tribute.The short-term Sunday school class led by John Woitas will start a new study on the person of the Holy Spirit at 9:30 a.m. Sunday. The study will be based on “The Life Principles Study Series” book, “Relying on the Holy Spirit” by Dr. Charles Stanley.Graduates, including high school, college, trade school and military, will be honored on Graduate Sunday, June 2.
