A unique race is coming to Butler County this July — a unicycle marathon.

There will be plenty of events during the weeklong festival held by the North American Unicycling Convention and Championship, sponsored by the Unicycling Society of America.

Activities will take place in and around the Harmony-Zelienople area as well as in Portersville. Events will run from July 20 to 27.

Competitions include basketball and hockey games on unicycles, distance races, time trials, marathons and mountain cycling.

This is the first time the convention has been in Pennsylvania. All events, including a freestyle event, are open to the public.

This unicycling convention is the largest gathering of unicycle enthusiasts in North America and has activities for all ages and skill levels.

Competition is open to all who want to unicycle for fun, to achieve personal goals or to compete for the 2013 National Championship title.
