Here are some of the scheduled musical, theater and arts events this summer in Butler County.
Arts
The Associated Artists of Butler County hosts its Spring Show and Sale through June 21 at The Art Center, 344 S. Main St.
Other exhibits include:

Cranberry Invitational Show opening from 6 to 8 p.m. July 10 at the Cranberry Township Municipal Building.

Maridon Museum, 322 N. McKean St., presents a travelogue series featuring Zelda Wilbert discussing the time she spent in Taiwan at 6:30 p.m. June 5. Reservations are required. Call 724-282-0123.
“Traditional Confucianism: The Core of Asian Civilization” will be presented at 6:30 p.m. June 20. Betty Anderson will lecture on “What makes Chinese Chinese.”
The museum displays pieces of Asian art and German Meissen porcelain. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays, except holidays. Saxonburg Area Artists Cooperative, 215 Main St. rear, in Saxonburg, will host:
“The Watercolors of Dougal Brown,” June 15 through July 13.

The Butler County Symphony Orchestra’s Concerts to Munch By will be presented from noon to 12:45 p.m. Wednesdays at the New Castle Street Plaza. In the event of rain, the lunchtime concerts will be at the symphony office, 259 S. Main St.

The Harmony Business Association will host its Harmony Summer Concert Series starting in early July and running for several weeks. The free, family concerts will be Thursdays in front of the Harmony Inn, and Mercer Street will be closed. Those attending should take a chair or blanket for seating.

Hartwood Acres Amphitheater in Allison Park, Allegheny County, will present these performances. Most have free admission, although some, like the Pittsburgh Blues Festival and the Allegheny County Music Festival, have fees.

Theater
Auditions for Butler Little Theatre’s Summer Youth Production, “James and the Giant Peach” by Roald Dahl, dramatized by Richard R. George, will be from noon to 2 p.m. June 1 and 2 at the theater at One Howard St.
Actors who sing and who play violin/fiddle should prepare a brief selection to perform. About 20 to 25 actors will be cast.
The Summer Youth Production is open to those ages 8 to 23. Show dates will be July 26, 27 and 28. Call 724-287-6781.

Butler Summer Dramatics Project will have auditions for its production of Meredith Wilson’s “The Music Man” at 7 p.m. May 26 and 28 at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church on Franklin Street.
Orchestra auditions will be at 6 p.m. both days.
Summer Dramatics is for those ages 10 to 24. The show will be Aug. 1, 2 and 3 at the Succop Theater at Butler County Community College. Call 724-287-4214.

Freeport Theatre Festival will have two shows:
“The Battle of Bushy Run,” a historical drama by Rennick Steele, at 7 p.m. July 12 to 14, 19 to 21, and 26 to 28
“Rivertown Firemen’s Jubilee,” at 8 p.m. Aug. 16 to 18, 23 to 25, 30 and 31, and Sept. 1.

Musical Theatre Guild’s summer show is “Suds — The ’60s Musical Soap Opera” featuring songs such as “Mr. Postman,” “The Locomotion,” “Respect,” “Are You Lonesome Tonight” and “Look of Love,” among others.
The show will be presented at 8 p.m. July 19, 20, 26 and 27 and at 3 p.m. July 28 in the William A. Lehnerd Performance Hall at the MTG Production Center at the rear of Memorial Park.
