Virginia (Dunbar) 'Ginger' Burgess
Virginia (Dunbar) “Ginger” Burgess, 87, of Middlesex Township passed away Monday while under the care of Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born on March 18, 1926, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of the late Walter S. and Katheryn (Spirer) Dunbar.
For 17 years, Ginger worked as a librarian for the Mars School District.
She was a member of the Glade Run United Presbyterian Church and the General Federation of Women’s Clubs of Pennsylvania. She loved the outdoors and enjoyed going hunting, fishing and camping. Ginger enjoyed crafts, such as needlepoint and making hats and lace gloves. She earned several first place blue ribbons for her hat boxes and also earned first place in the state for her needlepoint work.
She is survived by her two sons, William Burgess II and Scott “Hawk” (Georgia) Burgess, both of Middlesex Township; her four grandchildren, Jennifer L. Burgess of Ellwood City, William Burgess III of Fayetteville, N.C., Sheridan N. Burgess II of Middlesex Township and Brandi (Nathan) Miller of Orangeville, Pa.; eight great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alyssa and Victoria Lovell, Dylan and Lilly Burgess, Alexandria, Kailey and Evan Miller; and her longtime companion, Clarence “Sonny” Cricks.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Sheridan N. Burgess, who passed away on Dec. 4, 1968, a brother and a sister.
