Beatrice (Datum) Corton
Beatrice (Datum) Corton, 85, of South Fayette, Allegheny County, formerly of Scott Township, Allegheny County, passed away Monday at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
She was a devout Christian serving her lord her entire life. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister who cherished the title of GGB for Great-Grandma-Beatrice.
She was born on Feb. 23, 1928, in Pittsburgh to the late Adam Datum and Alice Petrauskas Datum.
She married John (Jack) Corton on Oct. 4, 1952, in Pittsburgh. He passed away June 18, 2010.
Prior to getting married and raising a family, she worked for Southern Bell Telephone.
She was a member of Our Lady of Grace in Scott Township, Allegheny County. She was a member of the Women’s Guild, Parish Council Worship Committee and Biblical Women Alive. She was a cantor. She belonged to three women’s golf leagues and the Bell Telephone Pioneers for which she made Hug-a-Bears for traumatized children. She played in three card clubs.
She enjoyed golf, playing cards, singing in the church choir, painting, gardening and sewing.
She is survived by her children, Cathy Corton, Rick (Kathy) Corton, Linda (Ron) Vodenichar of Butler, Jamie (Jennifer) Corton, Patti (Jim) Balistreri, Bob (Mary) Corton, Tom Corton and Mary Alice Corton; her 12 grandchildren, Sherri Farias, Stephanie Eggar, Adrianne Thompson, KayLeigh Malpass, Jessica Farmer, Hailey Corton, Joseph Balistreri, David Balistreri, Bobby Corton, Ben Corton, Hannah Corton and Grace Corton; and her nine great-grandchildren, Jack, Simon and Maria Farias, Renee, Alex and Gabi Eggar and Lucy, Isaiah and Micah Thompson. She is also survived by two brothers, William (June) Datum and Robert Datum.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Fair; and a brother, George Datum.
CORTON — Friends of Beatrice (Datum) Corton, who passed away Monday, April 15, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the BEINHAUER FUNERAL HOME, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, Pa.A Mass of Christian burial will take place at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Grace, 310 Kane Blvd., Scott Township, Allegheny County.Interment will be at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, 2828 Washington Road, McMurray, Pa.Memorial donations may be sent to The Leukemia & Lymphoma of Western Pa. and West Virginia, 333 E.
