Mars softball wins section title
Erin Hershman's single in the bottom of the 13th inning scored Jeanna Sybert with the winning run as host Mars outlasted Kittanning, 6-5 in high school softball action Thursday.
The victory clinches for the Planets (7-6, 7-2) their second straight Section 5-AAA title.
Mars' Taylor Rotz struck out 18 and walked just a pair in the marathon of a game.
Kasey Jones led Mars' offense with three singles, a double and one run batted in.
