Mars' Dennis gets field MVP

Lydia Dennis earned Girls Field MVP honors by winning the triple jump with a leap of 37 feet, 1½ inches and the long jump with a jump of 18-9 at the MAC Invitational at Mars High School Wednesday.

The Mars girls finished second overall in the 20-team meet with 74 points. West Allegheny claimed the title with 98 points.

Alec Battin won the pole vault by clearing 11-6 for the Mars boys and Brandon Marchese claimed first in the triple jump at 41-1 to pace the Planets.

West Allegheny also won the boys meet with 92½ points. Mars was second with 85 points.

Karns City, Union, Keystone double dual meet — The Karns City boys track and field team won all but three events on the way to a sweep of Union and Keystone.

Karns City downed Union 117-29. Its score against Keystone was unavailable.

The Karns City girls also earned a sweep.
