Swidzinski

Stanley Swidzinski, 97, of Butler passed away Friday at Concordia at the Orchards in Butler.

Born March 10, 1916, in Butler, he was proud to have lived to his age. He was the son of the late Nick Swidzinski and Pauline Schmidth Swidzinski.

He was married to the late Helen Swidzinski, who passed away Dec. 6, 2011.

Stanley was a member of the St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church in Butler and served as an usher for the church.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he was wounded in Germany in April 1945 during the Battle of the Bulge and was honored with the Purple Heart.

Prior to World War II, he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. in Kane in forestry from 1934 to 1936. He also worked road construction. Stanley worked for Armco Power Department as an electrician from July 1936 until his retirement in August 1980, following 44 years and one month service.

Stanley was a former member of Butler Township Auxiliary Police for many years. He also was a member of the Mercer Road VFW as an honorary member and was a member of the VFW Post 249 in Butler. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

He is survived by two sons, Stanley Gerald “Jerry” (Carla) Swidzinski of Butler and Richard (Elaine) Swidzinski of Meridian; six brothers, Joseph (Genevieve) Swidzinski of Butler, Adam (Fran) Swidzinski of Meridian, Lewis Swidzinski of Butler, Frank Swidzinski of Butler, John (Patty) Swidzinski of Butler and Carl (Nancy) Swidzinski of Butler; three sisters, Eugenia Shultz of Butler, Lucille Spohn of Baltimore, Md., and Helen Dollman of Slippery Rock; three grandchildren, Connie (Kurt) Brockman of Butler, Michele Ensign of Las Vegas, Nev., and Sean Swidzinski of Renfrew; and three great-grandchildren, Cameron Tack, Hunter Swidzinski and Halle Swidzinski.

He was preceded in death by one brother.

SWIDZINSKI — Friends of Stanley Swidzinski, who died Friday, March 15, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Andrew Roman Catholic Church, 1660 N. Main St. Ext., Butler. His pastor, the Rev. James Salberg, will officiate.Internment will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.
