Kenneth Lee Andres

Andres

Kenneth Lee Andres, 73, of Butler passed away Saturday from an ice fishing mishap at Lake Arthur in Moraine State Park.

He was born Oct. 26, 1939, in Butler and was the son of the late John J. and Catherine (Komstock) Andres.

Being a skilled bricklayer since 1964 and a member of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftsmen, Local 9, he bricked thousands of homes in the Butler area and created fireplaces that were works of art. His dedication to his work and attention to detail was a trait not often seen in today’s workplace.

He was an extremely successful deer and wild turkey hunter with mounted deer heads and turkey beards to prove it. Ice fishing was another passion he held dear. Now that he was retired, every moment of deer and wild turkey hunting seasons would find him in the woods scouting game. He was thrilled when Lake Arthur froze over because he and his faithful dog could be seen at the lake fishing together nearly every day. A freezer loaded with bass, venison and wild turkey was an accepted fact of life.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Waterbec) Andres, who he married on Sept. 20, 1963; his three children, Laura (Gregory) Gray of Norfolk, Va., Michael (Michelle) Andres of Butler and David (Donna) Andres of Olathe, Kan.; three grandchildren, Craig and Logan Sue Andres of Butler and Alyssa Andres of Olathe, Kan.; his sister, Rose Marie Andres Hancock of Fredericksburg, Va.; three stepsisters, Donna (Denny) Slamon of Woodland Hills, Calif., and Kay (Matthew) Warheit and Jymie (Richard) Kelly, both of Butler.

You could not find a finer example of a Christian. A kind, gentle, soft-spoken man, he lived his faith in all that he did with never a harsh word to anyone. Whether being a loving husband and father, a respected craftsman or sportsman, he will be surely missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was a member of the Christ’s Outreach Church, where an example of his fine workmanship can be found in the two stone walls he erected at the entrance to the church.

ANDRES — As per his wishes, there will be no public visitation or services for Kenneth Lee Andres, who passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013.

Arrangements are being handled by the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler, PA 16001.

Memorial donations can be made in his honor to the Nehemiah’s Wall Project of Christ’s Outreach Church, 120 Walker Ave., Butler, PA 16001..
