Nearly two decades ago, the physicians at Tri Rivers Surgical Associates had a vision for Butler County. The community practice of physicians, anchored then in McCandless in Allegheny County, saw that the growing population of Butler County needed more accessible and quality orthopedic care.

Tri Rivers started its venture in Butler County with two orthopedic surgeons, providing care to patients in a small office in 1994.

Today, Tri Rivers is an integral part of the Butler community and the premier orthopedic and musculoskeletal practice in the county. Twenty board-certified or fellowship-trained physicians, 17 midlevel providers and two teams of physical and occupational therapists provide care in five Butler County offices — two in Butler, a third in Cranberry/Mars and one each in Slippery Rock and Saxonburg.

With the increase in locations and providers, Tri Rivers has also expanded its array of services. Its physicians provide knee and hip reconstruction, hand and upper extremity surgery, sports medicine, shoulder surgery, neck and spine care, rheumatology and pain management services that include epidural steroid injections.

More recently, Tri Rivers has added physical therapy sites, a concussion management program and care for amputees and patients recovering from stroke.

Active in the community

In addition to providing direct patient care, Tri Rivers physicians also support county organizations. They serve as team physicians for Butler, Knoch and Mars high schools, participate in community events and contribute to sports teams through sponsorships.
