FORGING THE WAY - Sam Andrew

Sam Andrew

“Rather than viewing leadership as an 'out front starring role,' I feel that leadership is more about support and motivation. A leader must be a facilitator. They must find the key people who have the skills and dedication to complete the task at hand. Then they must provide the necessary tools, support and motivation. Finally, they have a responsibility to reward their staff for their contribution. I feel strongly that an effective leader must ensure that every member of the organization has a sense of ownership in the success of the group.”

INSPIRATION: “One of the most effective leaders I had the pleasure to work with was a former supervisor (and mentor) Michael J. Kensek. He fostered creative solutions. He offered suggestions and experienced advice without micro-managing. He made certain that the path of progress was clear of obstacles and that post-project evaluations always directed credit and reward to those responsible. Michael led by positive reinforcement.”
