INSPIRATION: “Maurice K. Goddard, former secretary of the Pennsylvania Department of Forest and Waters, worked for 24 years as a cabinet officer to six governors. He was highly respected by both political parties as an outstanding leader with a great focus and passion for conservation. His leadership style was described as tenacious, but friendly. As a result of his efforts, 45 state parks and an additional 130,000 acres of state park land were added by his retirement in 1979.”
