N. Ernestine 'Ernie' Detrie
N. Ernestine “Ernie” Detrie, 70, of Fairview Road, Petrolia, passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 10, 1942, in Bradys Bend, Armstrong County, and was the daughter of Ernest and Nellie (Moore) Mallett.
Ernie lived in the Petroleum Valley her entire life. She had been employed as a beautician in the area for many years. Ernie also worked at Friedman’s Grocery in Chicora and as a cook for Lutheran Service Society in Bruin where she prepared food for Meals on Wheels.
Ernie was loved by many people and was affectionately known as “Mom.” She touched many lives with her kind ways and selfless acts. Those who knew her would say she had a huge heart with a generous spirit that was always willing to help anyone in need. She was happiest when surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She will truly be missed by all.
Her memory will be carried on by her two sons, John Detrie and his wife, Heidi, of Fairview and Leroy Detrie and his wife, Shannon, of High Point, N.C.; her six grandchildren, Nicole R. Detrie, Sam A. Detrie, Nicole C. Detrie, Sabra Crawford, Brenden Detrie, and Caitlyn Detrie; her sister Eunice Detrie of Chicora; and numerous foster grandchildren.
Ernie was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, David Mallett.
DETRIE — Relatives and friends of N. Ernestine “Ernie” Detrie, who passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013, may visit from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Harvest Community Church of Petrolia, 118 N. Fairview Main St., Petrolia. Funeral services will be held at the church at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, with the Rev.
