5:35 p.m. Wednesday — A Tennessee trucker was cited for hit-and-run after his rig struck and damaged a utility pole at East Brady and North Monroe streets. Police said Billy G. James, 50, of Selmer drove off after the accident.An off-duty officer stopped James' tractor-trailer a short time later at Eau Claire and First streets.3:37 p.m. Wednesday — Unknown youths fired green paint balls at the side of the Emily Brittain Elementary School and at a school bus in the area of West Penn and North Washington streets.10:20 a.m. Wednesday — Two people were hurt, one seriously, in a two-vehicle wreck at Pittsburgh Road and Roosevelt Boulevard. The crash happened when a sport utility vehicle driven by Thomas W. Matonak, 64, of Butler Township and a car driven by Kenneth D. Boyle, 73, of Butler collided broadside at the intersection.Boyle was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with injuries described as “major” in a police report. He was later transferred to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Matonak was treated at the scene for minor injuries. Both drivers were wearing seat belts.

4:10 p.m. Wednesday — A pickup truck driven by Richard V. Maire, 56, of Butler rear-ended another pickup on Route 8 just north of Kelly Road in Clay Township. Kyle A. Hasychak, 19, of Butler was the other driver.2:57 p.m. Wednesday — Two youths face simple assault charges after fighting at Moniteau High School on Route 308 in Cherry Township.9:19 a.m. Tuesday — Cars driven by Larry Barnes, 68, of Zelienople and Jeffrey B. Cochran, 24, of Harmony collided on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township.1:13 a.m. Monday — At least two boys escaped from the Summit Academy juvenile detention center on Herman Road in Summit Township. The youths were captured about six hours later on Route 356 in Buffalo Township.

2 a.m. Saturday — A pickup truck driven by Dustin J. Whitling, 26, of Emlenton struck an embankment on Route 58, just south of Bluff Street in Foxburg. Police said Whitling was cited for a lane violation.
