Field events key Butler victory
The Butler boys swept the field events Wednesday on the way to a 105½-44½ track and field victory over Shaler.
Travis Reed won both the shot put and the discus and Anthony Yurkovich won both the long jump and high jump for the Golden Tornado.
The Golden Tornado girls, though, fell to Shaler 106-44.
Paige Allen won both the 100 and 200 and Ava Bonetti claimed the shot put and the discus to lead Butler.

Karns City 101, Moniteau 49 (boys); Karns City 95, Moniteau 55 (girls) — The Gremlins' 400-meter relay team of Tyler Kepple, Logan Moroney, Tristian Rhoades and Nathan Weckerly ran a blistering time of 46.5 seconds to win the event in the first meet of the season.
On the girls side, Breann Wood won both the 100 and 200 for Karns City.
Ashley Brehm broke the Moniteau javelin record with a throw of 112 feet, 9 inches, besting the mark of 112-0 set by Danielle Patterson in 2005.
