Freeport's Massart 5-for-5

Mars' Sabrina Edwards leads the pack in the 300-meter hurdles during a track and field season opening meet at Knoch Tuesday. Edwards won the event and the Planet boys and girls swept the meet.
Yellowjackets win softball debut; Mars track sweeps

Taylor Massart went 5-for-5 with two homers, two doubles and five RBI as the Freeport softball team opened its season Tuesday with a 16-11 win over section foe West Shamokin.

Alyssa Meta was 3-for-4 with a double, four RBI and four runs scored at the plate and struck out five batters in four innings pitched, while Emily Lindsey also went 3-for-4.

The Yellowjackets (1-0, 1-0) return to action today at Lower Burrell.
