The Butler Eagle won three awards and an honorable mention in the annual state Keystone Press Awards sponsored by the Pennsylvania Newspaper Association.

The awards are for photographs and stories published in 2012 for daily newspapers with 20,000 to 39,999 in circulation.

Chief photographer Justin Guido won first place in news photography for coverage of a funeral of a man who was beaten to death.

He also won first place for feature photography for coverage of a dying man who got married in Butler Memorial Hospital.

Staff writer Kim Paskorz won second place in the personality profile category for her story on Tammy Felbaum, a woman who recently had gotten out of state prison.

Staff writer John Bojarski received an honorable mention for a story about a Mormon softball team that could not play in a church league in Grove City.

The awards will be presented at a banquet in Harrisburg in May.
