Warm Reception
The 8 to 10 inches of snow that fell on Butler County in March of 1973 canceled the planned reception at the Pittsburgh airport for the Slippery Rock University basketball team, which made it all the way to the semifinals of the NAIA basketball tournament before losing to Maryland-Eastern Shore. But the Rock found a warm welcoming committee on their return to campus. Holding a homecoming banner behind the snowman were, from left, Chris Skiles, Gail Tabarella, Debbie Barral and Ann Wtorkowski. In the back row were, from left, Melissa Kunkle, Elaine Dively, Val Caler and Cindy Howe.
