KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Slippery Rock University senior forward Devin Taylor was named a second-team Division II All-Atlantic Region performer by the National Association of Basketball Coaches.
Taylor led The Rock to a 23-9 record — tying the best win-loss margin in school history — and a win in the NCAA tournament.
Taylor, a New Castle grad, was The Rock's leading scorer and rebounder with per-game averages of 14.5 points and 10 boards.
He finished his three-year Rock career with 1,141 points and 750 rebounds, which rank as the 12th and 11th best marks, respectively, in Rock men's basketball history.
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. — The Slippery Rock University women's tennis team finished a sweep of its spring-break matches with a 9-0 win Friday over PSAC rival Millersville University.It was the seventh straight victory for The Rock (7-4).The No. 3 doubles team of junior Samantha Bruggeman and freshman Courtney claimed an 8-0 victory, before Gallagher picked up a 6-0, 6-0 win in the No. 6 singles match.SRU's win also included a 6-1, 6-0 win by senior Janelle Krantz in the No. 4 singles match and a 6-0, 6-1 triumph by junior Lauren Coggins in No. 5 singles.The Rock returns to action on Tuesday, when they host Clarion University at 3:30 p.m.
SLIPPERY ROCK — The Slippery Rock baseball team was slated to open the PSAC schedule with a four-game series against Lock Haven this weekend, but the games have been postponed due to poor weather.No official make-up date has been announced.
