BUTLER CHURCH OF THE NAZARENE

The Rev. Leon Blaise, new pastor of Butler Church of the Nazarene, 4410 Oakdale Road and Route 68, will speak at the 10:45 a.m. worship service Sunday.

The annual “EGG” Stravaganza will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Children age 2 through sixth grade are welcome.

CHRIST COMMUNITY U.M.

Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, will have a vacation Bible school planning meeting from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday.

The youth group will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday and church council will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The choir will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday, but there will be no “Wednesday Nights” during Holy Week.

Maundy Thursday service is at 7:30 p.m. and the prayer vigil will begin at 8:30 p.m. and continue through Friday at 9:30 a.m. There is a sign-up sheet in the narthex.

Good Friday service is 7:30 p.m.

CHRIST’S OUTREACH

COMMUNITY LIFE CHURCH

Community Life Church holds service at McQuistion Elementary School.

COVENANT PRESBY

The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be received Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St. The offering supports the Presbyterian Hunger Program, Presbyterian Disaster Assistance and Self-Development of People.

The 11 a.m. Sunday service will begin with a processional with palms. Palm crowns will be distributed following the service.

EAST BUTLER PRESBY

East Butler Presbyterian Church, 9th and Randolph streets, will celebrate Palm Sunday with the distribution of palms at the 9:30 a.m. worship. Breakfast will follow in the social hall.

At 11 a.m., children will participate in an Easter egg hunt on the church lawn.

FAITH U.P.

Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main St. Ext., will observe Palm/Passion Sunday at worship.

The One Great Hour of Sharing offering will be highlighted with the offering gathered on Easter.

FIRST BAPTIST

The Ladies of First Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will meet for a Bible study at 7 p.m. today at the Dittmer home.

Sunday school this week will be at 9:45 a.m. Service is at 10:55 a.m. and a luncheon will be held before the 1:15 p.m. service. There will be no evening service.

The Hill Chancel Choir and the Hill Youth Chorale will present special music at the 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday service at Hill United Presbyterian Church, 501 Second St. The palm processional will be led by children of the church.

Reservations are requested for Easter breakfast. Egg casseroles, fruit salad, sweet breads, rolls and juice are needed. The sign-up sheet is on the deacons’ table. Helpers for the breakfast are welcome.

MERIDIAN U.P.

OLD UNION PRESBY

THE SOWER’S CHAPEL

Sunday’s festival service at 10 a.m. will begin with a palm procession at the Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver.

The cause of the month for March is the American Red Cross, Hurricane Sandy Relief Effort.

ST. LUKE’S LUTHERAN

The Fellowship for Christian Stewardship will meet Saturday at the church parking lot, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, for a retreat. Contact the office for details.

Palm Sunday will be celebrated with special music and Communion this weekend.

Monday’s community quiet time will be at 6 p.m. in the sanctuary.

Jeannine Sanford will lead a prayer service at 7 p.m. Monday based on stations of the cross. Self-guided stations will be available from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Wednesday.

ST. JOHN U.C.C.

Three confirmands will be inducted into new membership during the Sunday worship service at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City. A dessert fellowship will be held in the narthex in honor of the confirmands at the conclusion of the worship service.

Breakfast with the Easter Bunny begins at 9 a.m. Saturday in the fellowship hall.

St. John’s Quilters will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the fellowship hall.

ST. MARK’S EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN

St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 201 W. Jefferson St., will celebrate Palm Sunday with the distribution and blessing of palms and a procession.

The First Communion class continues its studies at 9 a.m. on Palm Sunday. The first Communion will be Maundy Thursday.

Eve Bible study will gather at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the church lounge.

There will be a Lenten supper served by the First Communion youths and their parents at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

At 7 p.m. Wednesday, there will be a healing service. Everyone is welcome who needs God’s healing, physically, emotionally or spiritually.

From 11:30 a.m. to noon Good Friday, there will be a sacred music prelude followed by a 35-minute service with Holy Communion in St. Mark’s Christ Chapel.

The 7 p.m. Good Friday Tenebrae service will be in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s.

Easter vigil will be at 6 p.m. March 30 with Holy Communion.

On Easter Sunday there will be 9 a.m. Sunday school for all ages and 10:15 a.m. Easter Festival Service with Holy Communion.

TRINITY LUTHERAN

This weekend daffodil orders will be available for pickup at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, after the 5:30 p.m. Saturday service and the 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Sunday services.

The Holy Week schedule is 7 p.m. Wednesday, Holden evening prayer/healing service; 7 p.m. Triduum service March 28; 7 p.m. Good Friday service; and 8:30 p.m. March 30 Easter vigil service.

WESTMINSTER U.P.

Donation suggestions for the Cabot Food Bank are canned fruits and paper products, other nonperishable food and cash donations.

Because of the overwhelming response to the request for donated glasses for a recent trip to Haiti, a new mission called “Through God’s Eyes” has started. Speak to Sandy to help.
