SAXONBURG — Allegheny Valley Hospital has hired Dr. Radha Aluru for the Saxonburg Medical Center.

Aluru received her medical degree at NTR University of Health Sciences, Guntur Medical College, A.P., India. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at UPMC Shadyside in Pittsburgh.

She is board-certified in internal medicine with staffing privileges at Allegheny Valley Hospital.

Aluru joins Danielle Godinez at the Saxonburg Medical Center, 333 W. Main St., Dinnerbell Square, Suite 101.

Pater has been promoted to manager of the Sarver office of Northwest Savings Bank, according to Chris Martin, southwest region president.The office is at 101 Monroe Road.Pater has more than 25 years of experience in finance and marketing. Before joining Northwest in June 2011, he was a commercial lender for the Progress Fund in Greensburg.A 1985 graduate of Grove City College, he is involved with a number of groups, including the Butler County Chamber of Commerce and the Butler Manufacturing Consortium.He lives in Brackenridge.<B>Westinghouse signs Czech deals</B>CRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric, Toshiba and Metrostav announce the signing of three memorandums with leading Czech-owned and operated engineering companies.These memorandums are in preparation for the construction of Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plants at Temelín in the Czech Republic.They constitute a major part of the engineering work to meet national and local requirements and will result in work for hundreds of Czech engineers if the AP1000 design is selected.A team of engineers from the Czech Republic visited Westinghouse's Cranberry headquarters last week to begin working on key design matters for the project.<B>Sweeney Law Offices hires an associate</B>CRANBERRY TWP — Attorney Heather Papp-Sicignano has joined the Sweeney Law Offices as an associate.The law firm specializes in family law.She graduated from Duquesne University's School of Law in 2005 and has worked in private practice in the township handling family law matters.<B>Orders jump for key U.S. factory goods</B>WASHINGTON — Orders for U.S. factory goods that signal business investment plans jumped last month by the most in more than a year, suggesting companies are confident about their business prospects.The Commerce Department said Wednesday that orders for so-called core capital goods, which include industrial machinery, construction equipment and computers, rose 6.3 percent in January from December. A sharp fall in demand for commercial aircraft caused overall durable goods orders to drop 5.2 percent, the first decline since August.
