CRANBERRY TWP — Police on Friday identified the skeletal remains found near UPMC Passavant Cranberry as those of a Beaver County man who went missing in July.

Police said the remains belonged to Christopher Alan Menosky, 47, and that they were identified using dental records. A wallet recovered at the scene helped police jump-start their investigation, according to a news release.

A man walking from UPMC Passavant Cranberry to the Cranberry Mall about 2:30 p.m. Feb. 16 came upon the human skeleton about 50 yards off Dutilh Road.

Police don’t suspect foul play, although they still can’t offer an explanation for why Menosky was in Cranberry at the time of his death.

Menosky was previously arrested twice in Butler County for minor offenses, most recently in July. Court documents state that his last given address was Butler.

According to earlier police reports, Menosky apparently had not had a fixed address for two years.

Police also arrested him several times in Beaver County.

Police said they’re not sure of a cause of death.
