Dorothy H. Simmons, 86, of Butler passed away Saturday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

She was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Chicago, and was the daughter of the late Henry Kavecky and the late Mary (Gaarz) Kavecky.

Dorothy had worked at Butler Memorial Hospital as a volunteer Red Cross “greylady,” nurse's aide, unit secretary and secretary for the nursing office, retiring after 20 years.

She enjoyed playing bridge, reading and her companion cats. Her dry wit will be missed by all who knew her.

Surviving are her son, Dr. Randon Simmons of Butler; three grandchildren, Jennifer Simmons of Middleburg, Va., Mathew Simmons of Gibsonia and Rebekah Simmons of Mars; and a great-grandchild, McKenna Simmons.

She was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
