Slippery Rock's Christmann wins District 10 wrestling title
Slippery Rock High senior Forrest Christmann defeated Jeff Burger of Union City 5-0 to win the heavyweight championship at the District 10 Class AA Wrestling Tournament Saturday.
Christmann is now 30-3 on the season. The win in the championship match gave him 100 for his career.
Burger was the defending district champion.
David Huselton (120) pounds finished fifth for the Rockets to qualify for the Northwest Regional Tournament.
Chet Simoni highlighted three Grove City regional qualifiers with a fourth-place finish in the district at 152. Luke Walter (132) and Trey Maher (145) claimed fifth.
Butler's Levi Cetti placed third with 461.15 points at the WPIAL Class AAA Diving Championships Saturday.Dominic Giordano of Pine-Richland won the event with a score of 610, breaking his own WPIAL record.Butler's Claire Weiland placed ninth in the WPIAL girls diving event with 302.55 points.
Mars junior Lydia Dennis placed second in the long jump and third in the triple jump at the PTFCA Indoor Track and Field Championships at Penn State University Saturday.Dennis jumped 18 feet, 13½ inches in the long jump and 38-¼ in the triple jump.Seneca Valley senior Jon Dorogy also took home two medals at the meet, finishing third in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.20 seconds and fifth in the 60-meter dash with a time of 6.96.Butler senior Ava Bonetti was seventh in the shot put with a throw of 38 feet, 5 inches.
