Charles Kostie

Charles J. Kostie, 69, of Brackenridge passed away Tuesday at Life Care Hospital, Natrona Heights, peacefully with his family by his side.

He was born March 15, 1943, in Natrona Heights, and was a son of the late Charles J. Kostie Sr. and Albina (Prazenica) Kostie of Tarentum.

He has lived in Brackenridge since 1969 and before that in Tarentum. Charles was a senior staff technician for ALCOA Technical Center for 32 years and, before that, he was a meat cutter for 17 years.

He was a member of the Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, previously St. Clement, and was a former Church Council member at both, a member of the Knights of Columbus Natrona Council 2602, a former Grand Knight 4th degree and secretary.

A 1961 graduate of Tarentum High School, Charles enjoyed going to camp in Potter County. He was a master craftsman, and he loved to build and repair anything.

In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, Marian (Machin) Kostie, who he would have celebrated his 49th wedding anniversary with on Feb. 8; his children, David (Sandi) Kostie of New Kensington, Jeffrey (Amy) Kostie of Natrona Heights and Jason (Rebecca) Kostie of Meridian; grandchildren, Ashley Kostie, Rebecca Kostie, Morgan Berenson, Ashley Marra, Stephen Harasyn and Alex Kostie; great-grandson, Colton Kostie; niece, Kathleen Linderman; and two nephews, Michael Kostie and Charles R. Kostie. He also is survived by many cousins.

Preceding him in death were his father and his brothers, Albert and David F. Kostie.

KOSTIE — Relatives and friends of Charles J. Kostie, who died Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Duster Funeral Home, 10th Avenue at Corbet Street, Tarentum, 724-224-1526. The Knights of Columbus will hold services in the funeral home at 7 p.m. Friday. A blessing service will be at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. A Christian funeral Mass will follow at 10 a.m. in the Holy Martyrs Church, Tarentum, with his pastor, the Rev. Aaron J. Kriss, officiating. Interment will be in Mt.
