Today — Police reported that James F. McDeavitt III, 37, of Slippery Rock Township was more than three times over the legal limit for alcohol about 2:10 a.m. Feb. 2 when he crashed his car into the concrete wall of the Gen. Richard Butler Bridge at Route 8 south and Pittsburgh Road.McDeavitt was injured, bleeding and trapped inside the car after the wreck at the south end of the bridge. Butler firefighters and a Butler Ambulance Service crew assisted police.McDeavitt, who was not wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries. Police also ordered a blood draw for testing.Investigators recently received toxicology results that showed his blood-alcohol level was 0.24 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law. Police said McDeavitt is charged with driving under the influence.12:44 a.m. Sunday — Devaughn O. Irvin, 31, of Butler allegedly assaulted his girlfriend, 22-year-old Samantha Jo Conner of Cranberry Township, during a domestic dispute on Eau Claire Street.Conner told police that Irvin, her boyfriend, dragged her out of the car they were traveling in, and attacked her, a police report said. The woman suffered minor injuries.Irvin was gone by the time police got there. Officers searched the area but could not find him. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Irvin on a charge of simple assault.7:21 p.m. Friday — Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle wreck at South Monroe Street and Lincoln Avenue. The crash happened when a car driven by Wayne P. Brumagin, 73, of Butler Township collided with a sport utility vehicle driven by Timothy J. Tilko, 51, of Summit Township.Brumagin and his passenger, a 48-year-old man who police did not identify, were both taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Both men were wearing seat belts. Police said Brumagin was cited for a red light violation.
1:16 p.m. Sunday — Vehicles driven by a 17-yearold Butler girl and Michael J. Sikorski. 35, of Edinburg, Lawrence County, collided at Eagle Mill Road and Rolling Valley Lane in Connoquenessing Township. Police did not identify the girl.1:40 a.m. Saturday — A Forward Township homeowner caught two suspected burglars in the act of stealing two hunting rifles at his house on Evans City Park Road in Forward Township. A short time later, police arrested the suspects, Marc A. Blodgett, 26, and Kristoffer M. Ion, 21, both of Butler, under a bridge on Needle Point Road near the home.Police said Blodgett and Ion are both charged with burglary, conspiracy, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief.1:30 a.m. Saturday — A bullet fired from what police suspect was a large-caliber handgun struck a house at Herman and Criley roads in Clearfield Township. The bullet damaged the plastic frame to a front living room window. The homeowner, a 40-year-old man, was seated on the living room couch when his house was hit. No injuries were reported.Police believe the gun was fired from Herman Road, Anyone with information is asked to call police at 724-284-8100.Saturday — A global positioning system device and a DVD movie were stolen from a vehicle on Ralston Road in Slippery Rock Township. The stolen property valued at $220 was taken between 12 p.m. Friday and 7 a.m. Saturday.11 p.m. Friday — An unidentified dark blue car, possibly a Nissan, struck a wooden fence on Great Belt Road near Bonniebrook Road in Jefferson Township, and drove away after the crash.Police noted that the car's driver's side mirror, a portion of its front plastic fender and part of a shattered window were left behind at the crash scene. Anyone with information is asked to call police.10:45 p.m. Friday — An unknown vandal threw a beer can from a passing vehicle that struck the front grill of a car on Route 308 just north of Moniteau High School in Cherry Township. The car sustained about $100 in damage.5:20 p.m. Friday — One person was hurt in a one-car accident in Muddy Creek Township. The crash happened when Lucinda K. McNary, 58, of New Galilee, Beaver County, lost control of her car and hit a guardrail and traffic sign on Route 422.McNary, who was wearing a set belt, was taken to Jameson Hospital in New Castle with minor injuries. Police said she was cited for a lane violation.4:05 p.m. Friday — Aaron E. Myers, 27, of Fenelton swerved his pickup truck to avoid hitting a minivan and crashed into a guardrail at Route 422 and South Clearfield Road in Clearfield Township. Police said Ryan C. Wolfe, 29, of Rural Valley, Armstrong County, was driving the van that pulled out in front of the pickup.Police said Wolfe was cited for failing to yield to oncoming traffic.2:28 p.m. Friday — Two Chicora teenagers were hurt in a one-vehicle suspected drunken driving rollover crash on Medical Center Road in Donegal Township. Brandon E. Bauldoff, 18, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence.Bauldoff and his passenger, a 14-year-old boy who police did not identify, suffered minor injuries. Both teens were wearing seat belts.6:55 a.m. Friday — Nathan H. Hinderliter, 30, of Butler was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital after suffering an apparent drug overdose at a home on Grand Avenue Extension in Oakland Township. Police said Hinderliter faces a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia.6 a.m. Friday — An unspecified number of brass valves were stolen in a burglary at the Oakview Country Club in Slippery Rock Township. The valves, worth a combined $47, were taken from the golf club's maintenance building on Ralston Road. The burglary happened between 5:43 and 6 a.m.1 p.m. Thursday — A car driven by Roman W. Kastelic, 19, of Butler crashed into a utility pole at Euclid Road and Idris Lane in Clay Township. Police said Kastelic was cited for driving too fast for conditions.Thursday — Nothing was taken in a burglary at a seasonal cottage on Chipmunk Road in the Woodlands Connoquenessing Township. The break-in happened between Jan. 6 and Thursday.3:45 a.m. Feb. 6 — Sharon K. Wise, 51, of Tionesta, Forest County, was hurt when the car she was driving struck a guardrail on Interstate 79 in Jackson Township. Wise, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said she was cited for a lane violation.7:20 p.m. Feb. 2 — Christene A. Buonpane, 22, of Cranberry Township lost control of her car and slammed into a guardrail on I-79 in Muddy Creek Township. Police said Buonpane was cited for driving too fast for conditions.1:28 p.m. Jan. 25 — A car driven by Tiana R. Smith, 22, of Coraopolis, Allegheny County, struck a guardrail, spun back across both lanes and hit an embankment on I-79 just south of East Lancaster Road in Lancaster Township. Police said Smith was cited for driving too fast for conditions.11:45 a.m. Jan. 25 — Sudden snowy conditions were blamed for a one-vehicle crash in Summit Township. Kathryn L. Furar, 56, of Butler, the driver, skidded off Freeport Road at Fennell Drive and hit a utility pole and street sign.Furar, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.7:40 a.m. Jan. 25 — A sport utility vehicle driven by Steven K. Isch, 22, of Glen Rock, York County, struck a ditch after sliding off snow-covered Harmony Road in Mercer Township. Police said Isch was cited for driving too fast for conditions.4:30 p.m. Jan. 23 — Thomas J. Vesel, 55, of Renfrew apparently fell asleep at the wheel, traveled over an embankment and into a field before hitting a tree along Dinnerbell Road in Jefferson Township. Police said Vesel was cited for a lane violation.
12:18 a.m. Saturday — Dylan Butler, 35, of Shelocta was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of a controlled substance on Route 422 in West Franklin Township near Worthington. Police noted that a search of Butler and his car turned up six stamp bags of suspected heroin. In addition to DUI, he faces drug-related charges, a police report said.1:26 p.m. Friday — Four people — three from Sarver and one from Evans City — face drug charges after police found 22 stamp bags of heroin following a traffic stop on Route 28 in Harmar Township, Allegheny County.Police identified the suspects as Brian M. Pastoria, 30, Kevin W. Smith, 50, and Kellie Sue Smith, 46, all of Sarver; and Douglas W. Clark, 30, of Evans City.Clark was arrested for a state parole violation and later taken to the Armstrong County Jail.In addition to drug charges, according to a police report, Pastoria faces a charge of driving under the influence.6:02 a.m. Thursday — Kathleen Stonis, 60, of Kittanning was hurt when she lost control of her car in Worthington and crashed into a concrete barrier on one side of Route 422 just east of Race Street, and hit a guardrail on the other side. Stonis, who was wearing a seat belt, suffered minor injuries. Police said she was cited for a lane violation.12:06 a.m. Wednesday — Amber N. Smathers, 28, of Kittanning was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence at First Avenue and Butler Road in West Kittanning.Feb. 5 — Police obtained an arrest warrant for Brian Elwood, 39, of Ford City, who is accused in the Jan. 12 break-in of a woman's home on Painter Avenue in Manor Township. Police said Elwood forced his way inside in an attempt to find his 16-year-old son, who had just assaulted his mother.While in the home, according to a police report, Elwood grabbed the arm of a 16-year-old girl. The suspect is charged with burglary and harassment.
12:03 a.m. Sunday — Cars driven by Danielle K. Pawlowicz, 20, of Butler and Peggy K. Osborne, 63, of Portersville collided on Route 19 and Leesburg-Grove City Road in Springfield Township. Police said Pawlowicz was cited for a stop sign violation.Sunday — An unknown thief stole money, jewelry and other items after breaking into two vehicles at a family's home on Leesburg Station Road in Springfield Township. A wallet containing checks and credit cards was taken from one vehicle. A necklace and $86 in currency were stolen from the other vehicle. The thefts happened between 6 p.m. Saturday and 6 a.m. Sunday.
