ZELIENOPLE — In-Synch Systems, a company that designs record management software for law enforcement agencies and private security firms, has named Joe Johnston as its president.
He succeeds John Herzog, who remains as chairman of the board.
Johnston began his career in 1987 with the military police of the U.S. Army. After retiring as a Pennsylvania State Trooper, Johnston was a consultant in business management before becoming In-Synch's director of operations in 2010.
Founded in 1999, In-Synch Systems serves more than 230 public safety and private security agencies throughout the United States and Canada.
The company's Windows-based software, In-Synch RMS, enables police officers to access crime-solving data with or without an Internet connection, complete reports and use investigative tools.
Westinghouse tests nuclear fuelsCRANBERRY TWP — Westinghouse Electric has announced the next step in the production of fuel for the Westinghouse Small Modular Reactor.Westinghouse engineers at the fuel fabrication facility in Columbia, S.C., have started making the Westinghouse SMR prototype fuel assemblies for testing.The Westinghouse SMR fuel design is based on the Robust Fuel Assembly technology used in the fuel for the four Westinghouse AP1000 nuclear power plant units under construction in China and the four AP1000 units being built in Georgia and South Carolina.To ensure the operation of the SMR fuel design, testing will include full-scale test assemblies and will simulate SMR reactor operation.
Dr. Shelly Larson has joined Butler Health System's medical staff as a podiatrist at Family Foot Care Associates.She received her medical degree from Des Moines University College of Podiatric Medicine & Surgery in Des Moines, Iowa. She completed a residency at UPMC in Pittsburgh.She received her undergraduate degree from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minn.Licensed to practice in Pennsylvania, she is qualified by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery. She is seeing patients at Butler Health System's Wound Care Center.<B>Machinist training program available</B>The Tri-County Workforce Investment Board and the University of Pittsburgh are offering an introduction to machining program for 10 weeks beginning March 11.The training will cover the skills needed for machinists, a CNC programmer, a CNC operator or a tool and die maker. The program gives individuals insight into the careers, but it is not comprehensive training, said Randy Williams of the University of Pittsburgh, who helped design the program, in an e-mail.It will cost students $290. Her e-mail address is jglauser@tricountywib.org.<B>Demchak replacing Rohr as PNC CEO</B>PITTSBURGH — PNC Financial Services Group President William Demchak will replace chairman and CEO James Rohr, who is set to step down in April after nearly 13 years as head of southwestern Pennsylvania's largest bank.Rohr, 64, will step down at the shareholder's meeting April 23, but will remain executive chairman for a year while the bank transitions to Demchak's leadership.Demchak, 50, was hired by PNC as chief financial officer in 2002, when he left JPMorgan Chase. Since then, he's become PNC's senior vice chairman in 2009 and president last April.Rohr was hired by PNC in 1972 and has headed the bank since May 2000. During that time, the bank's employees have more than doubled, to 56,000, and its assets have quadrupled, to $305.1 billion.<B>PERSONNEL FILE</B>Corina Diehl, president and owner of the Diehl Automotive Group, is accepted into the FBI Pittsburgh Citizens Academy for 2013-14, which gives business and community leaders an inside look at the FBI.Diehl will participate in eight classes, gaining knowledge of the FBI's processes as well as participating in firearm training and mock investigations.Diehl Automotive Group has three dealerships, a Toyota and Chrysler dealership in Butler, and a Chrysler dealership in Robinson Township.
