10:20 p.m. Feb. 4 — A child was hurt when cars driven by Amanda S. Stewart, 26, of Summit Township and Ashley M. Jacox, 22, of Butler collided at North Street and Wagner Avenue. An 8-year-old boy riding in Stewart's car suffered minor injuries. The boy was in a child safety seat.
Monday — Police filed drunken and drugged driving charges against Tammy F. McCarthy, 36, of Cranberry Township stemming from a traffic stop at 11:25 p.m. Jan. 29 on Route 8 south near Pepperland Boulevard. Officers said that they found suspected marijuana in the driver's side of the vehicle.McCarthy was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital for a blood test. Toxicology results later showed the presence of marijuana and alprazolam, the generic name for the anxiety medication Xanax, according to court documents.Her blood-alcohol level, documents said, was 0.145 percent. A level of 0.08 percent is considered intoxicated under state law.McCarthy is charged with driving under the influence of a combination of drugs and alcohol, possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, careless driving and a lane violation.4:15 a.m. Sunday — Erik S. Cupps, 24, of Butler Township was arrested after he allegedly attacked his girlfriend, Karina Al-Anazi, during a domestic dispute at the couple's Dutchtown Road home.Al-Anazi told police that Cupps had returned home after drinking, and she asked him to leave the home, according to court documents. She said he became angry and threw a table at her while she was in bed.The table hit the woman and broke, documents said. He allegedly grabbed her around the throat and attacked her.Al-Anazi told police that she got out of the house when the defendant stumbled to the floor when he tried to smash a lamp.Cupps was arraigned on charges of simple assault and harassment, and placed in Butler County Prison on $5,000 bail.
3:15 p.m. Wednesday — A car driven by Lisa Guyette, 21, of Grove City struck a van on West Main Street. Police cited Guyette for following too closely to another vehicle. Christopher Chiappini, no age given, of Grove City was driving the van.
5:40 p.m. Monday — Amanda G. Thomas, 39, of Butler was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol after her sport utility vehicle crashed into an embankment and rolled onto its roof on Eagle Mill Road in Connoquenessing Township. Thomas, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken to Butler Memorial Hospital with moderate injuries.3:50 p.m. Monday — Dalton R. Hogue, 23, of Slippery Rock faces a ticket for driving at an unsafe speed stemming from a three-vehicle accident on West Liberty Road just west of Dickey Road in Worth Township.The accident happened when Hogue’s car sideswiped another car driven by Steven J. Lawniczak, 47, of Slippery Rock and then hit a sport utility vehicle driven by Debra J. Cooper, 62, of Portersville.6:48 p.m. Sunday — An unknown hit-and-run driver ran a red light and rear-ended a car at Routes 308 and 8 in Center Township. The unidentified vehicle did not stop after the crash. Ethan C. Kapp, 23, of Butler was driving the car.State Police, FranklinSunday — An unknown burglar broke into Hovis Auto Wrecking on Emlenton-Clintonville Road in Scrubgrass Township. Nothing was taken in the break-in between 2 p.m. Saturday and 4:50 a.m. Sunday.
