Harry W. Pletcher Sr.

Harry W. Pletcher Sr., 75, of Lyndora, formerly of Markleton, Somerset County, passed away Monday at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born July 14, 1937, in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, he was the son of the late William and Ida S. (May) Pletcher.

He also was preceded in death by his wife, Jean, on Dec. 30, 1998, who he married on Sept. 24, 1955; brother, Ernest Pletcher; brother-in-law, John E. Hay; and father-in-law, Ray E. Hay.

Harry is survived by his children, Wilbur F. Pletcher of Butler, Harry W. Pletcher Jr. of Valencia and Mary Ann Swesey and her husband, Patrick, of Lyndora; grandchildren, Wilbur J., Michael, Sarah, Justin, Jason and Tim Pletcher, Melissa Shay and Elizabeth Swesey; seven great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren; brother, Charles Pletcher and his wife, Jean, of New Brighton; sister, Erma Hay of Markleton; mother-in-law, Ruby Hay of Rockwood, Somerset County; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Harry was a retired truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union.

He enjoyed helping his family and friends and had the ability to fix anything. He was also an avid woodworker and loved gardening, boating, hunting and fishing.

PLETCHER — Friends of Harry W. Pletcher Sr., who passed away Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, will be received from noon to 2 p.m. Friday with a service to follow at the MILLER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY, Somerset, with Pastor Dean Hay Jr. officiating. Interment will be at Rockwood IOOF Cemetery.
