Farm Bureau celebrates Food Check-Out Week

The Butler County Farm Bureau will celebrate Food Check-Out Week from Feb. 17 to 23 as a means of recognizing that growing and raising wholesome food is a farmer’s top goal.

Pennsylvania’s farmers are committed to producing safe, abundant and healthy food, and the Farm Bureau is helping consumers find solutions to eating healthy on a stretched budget.

Food Check-Out Week will be observed through a charitable donation of food and money to the region’s Ronald McDonald House located in Pittsburgh.

“The Ronald McDonald House is a great home away from home for parents and children waiting for a loved one having treatment at the hospital,” said Butler County Farm Bureau President Larry Voll. “It takes a lot of resources to provide this charitable service for our region. It’s a perfect way for us to recognize the bounty from our farms.”

A contribution of food or funds to the event can be made by contacting Larry Voll at 724-789-9219 for more information, or make check payable to Ronald McDonald House Charities and mail to Larry Voll, 358 Woodlands Road, Evans City, PA 16033.

The donated items will be presented to the Ronald McDonald House during a check-out day program Feb. 19, which will include local farm families.

The statewide event, sponsored by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau, will benefit all six Ronald McDonald Houses in the commonwealth.

The Butler County Farm Bureau is a farm and rural organization that advances agriculture and provides cost-saving services for its members.
