Carl Strutz

Carl J. Strutz, 80, of Mars died Sunday at his home in Naples, Fla.

Born in Shaler Township, on Nov. 29, 1932, he was the son of the late Carl and Theresa Triebl Strutz.

He served as a corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Carl was president of the Carl Strutz & Co., in Mars, where he manufactured specialty machines. In 1989, he was honored as Glass Man of the Year by the Glass and Ceramic Decorator's Association.

He was a member of the Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mars Campus.

He was a charter member of the Rich-Mar Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow. A 50-year member of the John E. Mair Lodge 729, F.&AM, he was active in the Syria Shrine and the Royal Order of Jesters. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the Butler Country Club.

An antique car enthusiast, Carl was a member and past president of the Early Ford V-8 Club of Pittsburgh.

Surviving are his son, C. James Strutz and his wife, Marcy, of Carnegie; his two daughters, Lori Lynn Stresen-Reuter and her husband, Steve, of Naples, Fla., and Rebecca J. Strutz-McKinney, D.C. and her husband, Carl, of Mars; his grandchildren, Jacob (Ashley), Jared (Jennifer) and Wade Stresen-Reuter and Caden and Linnea McKinney; a sister-in-law, Mae Helen Strutz of Mars; and six nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ellen Linnea Anderson Strutz, who he married on Jan. 11, 1958, and who died on Dec. 5, 1995; and by his brother, Frank C. Strutz Sr.

STRUTZ — Friends of Carl J. Strutz, who died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, will be received at the McDonald-Aeberli Funeral Home, 238 Crowe Ave., Mars, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.Services will be in the Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mars Campus, 525 Pittsburgh St., Mars, at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. James Gascoine officiating. Please meet at the church. Burial will be in Mars Cemetery, Adams Township.Memorials donations are requested to the Mary Anderson Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Dutilh United Methodist Church, Mars Campus, P.O.
