PITTSBURGH — A Pittsburgh man who killed one man in a drug dispute and then gunned down a suburban police officer has been sentenced to two life terms without the possibility of parole.

On Tuesday afternoon Common Pleas Judge Kevin Sasinoski sentenced 35-year-old Ronald Robinson after a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder for shooting 40-year-old Danyal Morton over a drug dispute, and second-degree murder for shooting Penn Hills Officer Michael Crawshaw, who had responded to the scene.

The first-degree murder charge could have carried a death sentence, but Morton's family waived that proceeding, meaning the judge could go straight to sentencing.

The shootings happened on Dec. 6, 2009. Authorities say Robinson fired 13 shots at the 32-year-old Crawshaw, killing the officer instantly.

CLARION — A portion of westbound Interstate 80 was reopened this morning after a weather-related crash involving a trailer.State police had closed the highway in Clarion County between Routes 66 and 322 following the crash earlier today.But police this morning said one westbound lane was opened in that area, and officials hoped to have the entire westbound portion of the highway open later in the morning.Details about the crash had not been released.
