Mars girls golf beats Butler, Shaler; Slippery Rock’s Sam Smochek has big round: Highlights & scores

Mars girls golf won a tri-match with Butler and Shaler at Suncrest Golf Course on Friday, shooting a collective 177.
Shaler scored a 209, and Butler carded a 224 to fall to 0-10. Winter Phillips led the Golden Tornado with a nine-hole round of 48. Elise Wadas shot a 38 for the Planets, leading all golfers, and Emily Tippalaugh added a 42 and Delaney DiCuccio a 45.
Boys golf
Sam Smochek finished third with an 18-hole round of 74 for Slippery Rock in a District 10, Region 2 mega match at Tanglewood Golf Course. Smochek finished just three shots behind Grove City’s Isaac Allen, who won. The Rockets came in fourth out of six teams.
