A tattoo is thought of as permanent, which discourages many people from getting one.

But for some, tattoos help them remember loved ones who have passed or best friends who have affected their lives. Or, the person with the tattoo may believe that it simply helps him or her be a better person by serving as a reminder of another time in life.
