Butler resident Mark Hitchcock's arm tattoo “Be The Miracle” is taken from the movie “Bruce Almighty.” He said his tattoos help him focus on positive habits.

Mark Hitchcock of Butler says he is a changed man. He says he once had a problem with lying and manipulation.

“It was a lot of hard work to get out of those bad habits, and my tattoo always reminds me that that's the better path to take and it's always a lot easier in the end to tell the truth, even thought it doesn't seem like that on the surface,” Hitchcock said.

After a low period in his life, Hitchcock sought counseling.

He also got a tattoo. His shoulder bears a cross with a banner in Latin saying “The truth will set you free.”

“It helps me to keep the good habits instead of the bad,” Hitchcock said.

The second tattoo is praying hands with prayer beads and the words “Be the miracle.”

“It's a reference to 'Bruce Almighty.' There is a quote from Morgan Freeman in the movie and he says, 'Be the miracle,'” Hitchcock said.

Although the tattoos aren't always visible, Hitchcock likes it when people ask about them.

“Every time I have to tell the story, it's really profound,” he said. “It reminds me to always stay on the straight and narrow.”
