Rotary District 7280, which supports 42 clubs from Butler, Erie, Jefferson and Bradford counties, has granted nearly $5,825 to Lifesteps to screen children for developmental delays and autism.
Lifesteps Child Check program provides free screenings to children from birth to age 5.
The screening can recognize early warning signs of developmental delays that could interfere with a child's normal growth and development.

The Butler County Labor Council collected more than $6,000 worth of toys for Toys for Tots as a part of a Day of Action.Kathleen Treme, council vice president, said, “I think it was really a success. For the first time, absolutely.”The state AFL-CIO called for a Day of Action for its affiliated county labor councils to do community service projects throughout the state.Jim Saeler, president of the county labor council, decided to partner with the U.S. Marines and their Toys for Tots program.The council delivered the toys on Dec. 8 to the Toys for Tots collection center at Moraine Pointe Plaza.
Butler Area School District raised nearly $1,800 in November for Hurricane Sandy victims by holding “Jeans Days.”Teachers and administrators paid $5 each to wear jeans on those days.The school district donated the money to the American Red Cross.As part of its National Relief Operation, the Red Cross has been able to provide food, shelter, relief supplies and comfort to those affected by Hurricane Sandy.To date, the organization has served more than 8 million meals and snacks, distributed more than 6.3 million relief items, provided more than 95,000 emotional support contacts and mobilized nearly 20,000 trained Red Cross workers.In addition, the organization has provided more than 80,000 shelter stays.
A Butler man and a Grove City man went on a hunt with members of the Pittsburgh Steelers.Jason Brown of Butler and David Say of Grove City were two of the winners of the “Hunt with the Black and Gold Contest” sponsored by Northwest Savings Bank.The winners met on Nov. 20 with members of the Pittsburgh football team.They, along with members of their families, met the players at the Alpine Club in Bridgeville, south of Pittsburgh, in the morning.
