Carol Jean Mitch

Mitch

Carol Jean Mitch, 51, of Butler was tragically taken from her family on Sunday evening as a result of a car accident involving a deer.

She was born in Butler, on Aug. 6, 1961, a daughter of Paul E. and Mary ‘Mamie’ Green Miller.

She was a graduate of Butler Senior High School and a 1982 graduate of St. Francis School of Nursing in New Castle. A registered nurse, she was employed by the Visiting Nurses Association of Western Pennsylvania for nearly 27 years as a visiting nurse, then as a complete care private duty nurse and most recently as a customer liaison traveling to Community Senior Housing locations in Armstrong, Butler, Beaver and Lawrence Counties.

Carol was a Butler High School Marching Band nurse and chaperone for seven years, during the entire time her children played in the band. She was always an enthusiastic sports mom and cheerleader for all of her children’s activities. She also was active in numerous community and charitable organizations. Carol was a blessing to everyone she met.

She was a lifetime member of the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center, where she served as a lector and eucharistic minister and was a member of the Pastoral Council, the Advisory Committee for St. Wendelin’s School, the school PTG and Advancement Committee, and the Endowment Fund Committee. She instituted a can recycling program for the benefit of the school.

Her family was her greatest pride and joy. She will be sadly missed by her husband of 27 years, Raymond A. Mitch, who she married June 14, 1985.

She is survived by three sons and one daughter, Teddie of Fort Worth, Texas, Jeff of Pittsburgh, Tommy and Amy, both students at Grove City College; her parents, Paul and Mamie Miller of Butler; four sisters, Brenda (Georg) Wolfe, Cindy (Wayne) Clark and Beth (Walt) Skibicki, all of Butler, and Julie (Paul) Stowitzky of Baldwin, Pittsburgh; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and numerous close friends.

MITCH — Friends of Carol Jean Mitch, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, will be received at Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 1 to 4 and 7 to 10 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Wendelin Roman Catholic Church, Carbon Center, 210 St. Wendelin Road, Butler. Her pastor, the Rev. Matt McClain, will officiate. Interment will follow at the Parish Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial donations be made to the St. Wendelin Catholic School Endowment Fund.
