The youth club of Butler Assembly of God will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at 105 Purvis Road. Each child should take a wrapped gift for exchange.

Christ Community U.M.The staff Christmas party of Christ Community United Methodist Church, 205 N. Duffy Road, is set at 6 p.m. today at Mama Rosa’s restaurant.The church is collecting gifts for children and youth services or snacks and items for the church nursery. They can be placed in the Giving Sleigh in the sanctuary.A Night of Gifts is at 6:30 p.m. Sunday. Community Life ChurchCommunity Life Church conducts its service at McQuistion Elementary School. Loose change donated until January will go toward the Honduras mission trip.The Butler Praise and Coffee Morning for women will be Saturday at Butler Public Library. Covenant PresbyA rehearsal for participants in the Christmas Eve Service of Lessons and Carols, choir, readers and acolytes, will be held immediately after worship on Sunday at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 230 E. Jefferson St.The Seekers Class will view and discuss the Teaching Company Video of Dr. Gary Rendsburg in his study of the Book of Genesis. The class meets at 9:30 a.m. in the Assembly Room.

Faith U. P.The Candle of Joy will be lit Sunday at Faith United Presbyterian Church, 1329 N. Main Ext. The drama “Bethlehem Speaks” will be presented.A catered lunch and Christmas party will follow the service.

First BaptistFirst Baptist Church, 221 W. New Castle St., will conduct a nursing home service from 2 to 3 p.m. Monday at Sunnyview. Dennis Junker will speak.

First English LutheranThere will be congregational meetings following both services Sunday at First English Lutheran Church, 241 N. Main St.These meetings are held to elect members to church council.Caroling to shut-ins is scheduled after church.

First U.M.The Crossfire Campus of First United Methodist Church, corner of Route 8 and Mercer Road, will become a Bethlehem marketplace from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday.The marketplace is a family multisensory event to awaken the Christmas spirit. Fair Trade gifts will be available for purchase.A holiday organ recital will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 18 at First United Methodist Church’s downtown campus, 200 E. Men’s Ensemble and the Hill Church and Westminster College Instrumental Ensemble.The children’s Christmas musical “Dude, You Hear What I Hear?” will be presented at 7 p.m. Sunday in the sanctuary.Head Start Happy Holidays gifts are due on Sunday and should be placed in the Deacons’ room.

Meridian U.P.The installation and ordination of church officers for 2013 will be held during the Sunday worship service at Meridian United Presbyterian Church, 4150 Highland Ave.The discipleship/worship committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.The evangelism/mission committee will also meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.The stewardship/personnel committee meeting is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.

New Life Christian MinistriesNew Life Christian Ministries offers weekend worship celebrations at the South Butler Primary School, 328 Knoch Road, Saxonburg.33 — The Series is on winter break until January.Relevant Student Ministries will hold Christmas parties on Sunday for senior high students and Tuesday for junior high students.Both parties will be held at 320 W. North Main Street Church of GodThe Annual All-Church Christmas Caroling event will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext.Carolers will meet in the church at the Gathering Place. Children are encouraged to join in.Cinema for Carnivores, men’s movie night, will take place at 6 p.m. Saturday, at the Haven. The featured movie on the big screen will be “Chariots of Fire.” Men should take something to cook on the grill.The handbell choir will practice at 6 p.m. Wednesday in preparation for its performance at the Christmas Eve Candles, Carols, and Communion service.

Old Union PresbyThe youth group of Old Union Presbyterian Church, 200 Union Church Road, Mars, will pack Christmas food bags at the Evans City Food Cupboard Saturday followed by ice skating at North Park.The group will leave the church at 9 a.m. and return about 4 p.m.Interested youths should tell Peter by Wednesday if they wish to participate.

Saint Andrews U.P.The fudge and cookies made by the youths to benefit the 2013 mission trip will be available for pickup after worship Sunday at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St.

The Sowers ChapelJim Lindsay of Sarver will lead the Sunday service at the Sower’s Chapel, 100 Iron Bridge Road, Sarver.Members and friends should deliver their wrapped Angel Tree gifts for local families to the church by Sunday.

Springdale LutheranSpringdale Lutheran Church, 1061 Mahood Road, West Sunbury, will have its annual Christmas caroling on Saturday.Those wishing to attend should meet at 2 p.m. at the church.Bible study will be at 10 a.m. Sunday.

St. Luke’s LutheranSt. Luke’s Lutheran Church will continue its Advent worship series, “Faces Who Welcomed the Savior,” at 7 p.m. Wednesday at 330 Hannahstown Road, Cabot.There will be a music recital at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the sanctuary before worship.

St Luke’s LutheranSt. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 310 W. Main St., Saxonburg, is recycling Christmas wrapping paper in the bins behind Centennial Hall.Paper, newspapers, magazines or ads may be dropped off at anytime. No cardboard, telephone books or plastic will be accepted.All proceeds go to Camp Lutherlyn.The Christmas praise band will rehearse at 6:30 today. St. John LutheranSt. John Lutheran Church will celebrate Holy Communion during its Sunday worship service at 100 Connoquenessing Main St., Connoquenessing.The church council will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday.The church is responsible for the desserts for The Connoquenessing Meals on Wheels for the first two weeks of January. Sign up on the clipboard that will be passed around through the congregation to help.The church janitor sheet for 2013 is posted in the church narthex.The December cause of the month is the Salvation Army, Butler chapter.

St. John U.C.C.New members will be received at the worship service Sunday at St. John’s United Church of Christ, 501 E. Main St., Evans City.The adult handbell choir will practice after the conclusion of the worship service.A meeting of the Consistory will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the narthex.The Bible study on Monday will be the last for 2012.

St. Mark’s Evangelical LutheranSt. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church is located at 201 W. Jefferson St.The Eve Bible study will meet at 11:30 a.m. Friday for Christmas devotions and a luncheon at the Butler Country Club.There will be final rehearsal for the Christmas musical at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.The musical will take place during the 10:15 a.m. Sunday worship service.The outreach committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the church library.

Trinity LutheranAnyone wishing to help with Christmas caroling and visits to shut-ins is asked to meet between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church, 120 Sunset Drive, Center Township.The adult Sunday school class, which is continuing the study of Making Sense of the Christian Faith, will begin meeting at 9:45 a.m. Sunday in Room 109.The 11 a.m. Sunday service will include the Sunday school’s Christmas program.Trinity will hold a worship service for those at Newhaven at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone who would like to share in this service is welcome.The last Advent soup and sandwich meal will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, followed by a Holden Evening Prayer service at 7 p.m.

Westminster U.P.Sunday school students will present a Christmas pageant “The Savior is Born” at 11 a.m. Sunday at Westminster United Presbyterian Church, 210 Westminster Road, Sarver.The pageant will be followed by the church’s annual Christmas holiday buffet dinner from noon until 2 p.m.
