FREEPORT — PNC Bank has announced it will close its Freeport branch at 236 Fifth St. in February.

Fred Salmon, a spokesman for PNC, said the bank is consolidating the Freeport operation with the Sarver branch at 620 South Pike-Route 356.

Each branch has about 10 employees and Salmon said the bank will “redeploy” workers to other branches as it can.

The Freeport bank will close at 3 p.m. Feb. 22.

CRANBERRY TWP — MSA has donated infant CPR kits to Butler Memorial Hospital.The kits include a bilingual, educational DVD and an infant mannequin to help parents learn how to administer CPR to their children.MSA has given 100 kits to the hospital.

WARREN — Northwest Savings Bank has announced it has signed an agreement to buy Erie-based The Bert Co., doing business as The Bert Insurance Group, an employee benefits and property and casualty insurance firm.The Bert Insurance Group will operate as a subsidiary of Northwest Savings Bank with former owner, Douglas Bert, remaining with the company and assuming corporate management responsibilities as president of Northwest's insurance operations.Northwest Savings has offices in Butler County.

BUTLER TWP — Butler Memorial Hospital's Cancer Program received a 3-year accreditation from the American College of Surgeons, Commissioner on Cancer for Western Pennsylvania.The program has been accredited since 2006 and includes cancer committee leadership, cancer data management, clinical services, research, community outreach and quality improvement.

• Gov. Tom Corbett has appointed attorney Kathleen Gallagher of Wexford to the Sunset Task Force, which reviews state commissions to see if they should be continued or disbanded.
