SRU men begin year with win
VIENNA, W.Va. — Tabari Perry and Devin Taylor scored 19 and 17 points, respectively, as the Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team opened the season with 70-48 victory Tuesday night at Ohio Valley College.
Taylor added 11 rebounds and Perry six. Darious Clark produced 12 points and five rebounds off the bench. SRU had a 57-38 advantage on the boards.
Ashton Brown scored 17 points for Ohio Valley.
The Rock opens its home schedule Monday, hosting LaRoche College at 7 p.m. SRU’s second home game won’t be played until Dec. 18.
Women’s BasketballWheeling Jesuit 59, Slippery Rock — The Rock (1-1) surrendered a 9-0 run late in the second half and Wheeling Jesuit scored 45 points off the bench Tuesday night.D’Asia Chambers paced SRU with 14 points. Jazmyne Frost had 11 points and 10 rebounds, Alexas Brown 14 points and Danielle Garroutte 10.Kelsey Pacholke scored 18 points and grabbed 13 rebounds off the bench for Wheeling Jesuit. SRU travels to Charleston (W.Va.) for a 6 p.m. game Saturday.
