Dana O’Neil made two saves in a penalty kick shootout to lead the Slippery Rock University women’s soccer team to a 2-1 win over 24th-ranked Edinboro in the first round of the NCAA Division II Tournament Friday.

With the match tied 1-1 after two overtime periods, Shelby Ward, Emer Flatley, Allison Harbart and Laren Impey all converted their penalty kicks.

Meanwhile, O’Neil made two brilliant diving stops in goal, sending The Rock to the second round at 2 p.m. Sunday against 16th-ranked California (Pa.) University.

SRU beat Cal 3-0 in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship game last weekend.

Seneca Valley graduate Karisa Fernandez scored Edinboro’s regulation goal.
